Prinz Rudolf would have loved these attractions too. Merano and its surroundings are full of attractions, but we would still like to highlight the 5 that you should definitely see!
The Merano Thermal Baths

To every real spa town corresponds a thermal bath. A visit to the Merano Thermal Baths, especially after their refurbishment, must absolutely be part of a stay in Merano. Even if you won't miss anything in our Roofpools, a visit to the thermal baths is always worth it, as they are the most beautiful baths in the region, with 15 indoor pools and another 10 outdoor pools! In summer, a visit is worth twice. You can sit and sunbathe in the fantastic outdoor park, around the outdoor pools and near the water lily pond. The Merano Thermal Baths have an underground car park, but are also easily accessible by bus from Prinz Rudolf.
The Tappeiner promenade

Already in 1893 the first part of South Tyrol's most famous promenade, designed and financed by the famous doctor and anthropologist Franz Tappeiner, was inaugurated. The entire route of the promenade, which connects Merano with Quarazze, was completed in 1912 and still today has lost none of its charm. In fact, the Tappeiner promenade is currently under discussion to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The entire route is accompanied by rich Mediterranean flora and starts at the Powder Tower, the medieval viewing tower, which offers a detailed view of the historic centre of Merano. The "Tappeinerweg" can be reached from Prinz Rudolf on foot via the Sissi path, which runs through Merano and along the River Passirio.
The botanical gardens

You will definitely pass them when you are on your way to Prinz Rudolf's. The botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are only 2 kilometres away from our hotel and are equally easy to reach on foot or by bus. Here you can discover more than 80 types of garden with botanical treasures from all over the world, the museum of tourism and various vantage points, an aviary, a gallery and the famous water lily pond, a meeting point and location for evening picnics, aperitifs and concerts by internationally renowned musicians and bands.
Walks along the Passirio

On both sides of the river Passirio, which divides Merano, two promenades converge into a third. The first two are the winter walk and the summer walk, both leading through the wild Gilf Gorge to the promenade of the same name. These are characterized by the presence of a very rich and well-kept flora, typical of South Tyrol, and numerous benches engraved with quotations from famous poets and philosophers, immersed in absolute tranquillity thanks to their secluded position and far from traffic. Here it will be easy for you to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy your holiday!
The arcades of Merano

The foundation stone of the arcades of Merano, the longest shopping area in South Tyrol, was laid 800 years ago. Trade has taken place here since the 12th century. The pulsating centre of the city of Merano is the 400 metre long Laubengasse, which is very attractive with its classy shops, historic craft shops and cosy restaurants and bars. The contrast between medieval architecture and modern shops, as well as bars and restaurants attract many visitors every day who can enjoy the "Dolce Vita" feeling of this pedestrian area full of character and life.
